1. Will this new version be
able to import configuration (.cfg) files created
with the previous versions?
Answer: It
depends. If the previous configuration
for a test had no blank program-assigned scales and left no scale without a
name or other required information (i.e., identifying the items on that scale
and how they are to be scored), then the new version should be able to import
the .cfg file and have it run properly. Otherwise, the new version may not be able to
accomplish this
2. How many installations come with the new
version?
Answer:
Version 8.0 can be downloaded to as many computers as you like. However, it will require a USB KEY in order to run. The supplied key can be transferred from one computer to another, allowing you
to run the program at home and the office, or at two offices (although not both
at the same time).
3. What if the key fails or I loose it?
Answer:
We will replace malfunctioning keys
free for one year, then at our cost from then on. Lost keys,
however, will be replaced at the cost of an upgrade of the program (currently
$350.00).
4. Can SCORES-IT-ALL keep track
of the number of test items that a client omits?
Answer:
Yes! The program allows you to define a letter or number to represent a missing
response. It then automatically tallies these omitted items for you.
5. How long does it take to
configure the program to score a particular test?
Answer: Because there are a number of factors that effect the time involved in test configuration, it is not possible to give a single answer to this question. These factors include; (a) the individual's familiarity with the program and knowledge of the test and it's construction, (b) the number of items and scales on the test, and (c) the complexity involved in defining a scale. For some tests (e.g., a 10 item, multiple choice test where there is one right answer per item) this process could take a matter of minutes. For others (e.g., a personality test with hundreds of items, and dozens of scales), the process could take a number of hours.
6. Can the program be used to
allow a client to take a test on the computer?
Answer: If you mean "Can the program present test items on a computer screen?" the answer is no. All that appears on the screen is a series of numbers (one for each test item) and a place to enter a response (e.g., a number or a letter). You can, of course, give a client a test booklet containing the test items, and have them respond directly on the computer. However, we can not recommend this procedure since it may be difficult for some clients to follow. Instead, we recommend that clients answer in a test booklet (as usual), and then have someone transfer the responses, by hand, to the computer.
7. Will this new version work
with all operating systems and with all types or printers?
Answer:
The program will work with all versions of Windows (including
8. Can the program be used with
a scanner?
Answer: Sorry, no.
8. Do we need to order special
answer sheets for use with the program?
Answer: No. In most cases you would simply use the regular answer sheet that comes with the test you are using. You would then transfer the answers to the program using the computer keyboard.
